Like father, like son

Look at these photos of Jeremy around 6 months of age.... Owen looks jut like his father with the same cute noise, big cheeks, precious chin and big eyes.

JEREMY: 6 months old

OWEN: 4 months old

JEREMY:

Zoo Members!

We had a great weekend and Owen had a pretty eventful one himself. Friday night Owen went to stay with Kiss and Papi because Jeremy and I went to see The National play at House of Blues. Saturday night Owem got to go to Cedar Creek with us for our friend Jessica's birthday- he was up a little later than usual- he went to bed around 8:30 and he woke up at 8:30am(AWESOME!!! We spent most of the day today watching football with Uncle Jake, Uncle Noush, and dad. Early this afternoon my friend Amy and her son, Evan, came over and we walked from my house over to Hermann Park and we made a stop at the zoo.
Owen and I are officially zoo members and we plan on making lots of trips to the zoo- especially once the African Forest exhibit opens. We are definitely going to go check out the zoo this next week because it looks like our weather forecast is pretty promising with lows in the mid 50s and highs in the lower 80s.

Here is a picture of Uncle Jake feeding Owen his sweet potatoes and oat cereal- mmmm:

Long (or tall?) Baby Owen!

I haven't put an update about Owen's 4 month appointment so Ill just give the quick details on it.
Owen weighs 15lbs and is 26 inches long!

Owen is 85th percentile in height (basketball player?)
50th percentile in weight
60th percentile in head size

We have one long lean baby and he is a healthy one! He came into this world at almost 9 lbs and he hasn't slowed down one bit!

Today we had rice and green beans! :)
(rice cereal and pureed green beans mixed in)

19 weeks +

Just a few pictures from today....

Owen with his Clementine (We have a real donkey named Clementine, at the farm in Roundtop, this is Owens little Clementine- we cant wait to show Owen big Clementine who hangs out with the cows at the farm!)

Owen and I went for a walk this morning and stopped by to see Dr. Nona in action... I'm sure one day Owen is going to want to go see Nona at work and play doctor :)

Nona, watch out- Owen is going to steal your patients away from you with his cute smile:)

We also made a stop by daddys office to surprise him with a Starbucks Mocha... Today was a good day! Tomorrow we are going to eat green beans- yeah!!

Mmmmm, I like it!

This week Owen started eating... well, chewing that is, or should I call it 'gumming'? Either way, Owen has started taking food by a spoon and he loves it! We started oat cereal ( bc its apparently easier on the digestive system, compared to rice cereal). I mix a little prune juice with the milk and cereal and Owen loves it! Yesterday he wanted more and more and more! We will start a vegetable on Friday... not sure what we are gong to try yet- the doc said it didnt matter what you tried as long as you fed him the same food for 3-4 days straight... Time to break out the Beaba/Babycook and get creative!
Here are a few pictures of Owen enjoying his new tastes!

Owen has also started teething- his little cheeks get pink and hes been chomping on anything he can get in his mouth- his favorite things to chew are Jeremy's fingers and hands... he has been much fussier than normal- a bit off... I sure am hoping that this will pass soon!

growing up so faat!

here Owen is.... looking more like a toddler than a baby..

Hats, Beanies and Booties!

The weather in Houston has been amazing! The morning temps have hovered between 45-55 and the afternoons are beautiful and in the mid to upper 70s and the last few days it has crept into the lower 80s.... I hope we are finished with the 90s for this year! Owen and I have been spending a lot of time outside. Here are a few pictures from our 'happy hour' as I like to call it, by the pool. Our happy hour takes place between the hours of 5 and 6- Owen's "fussy/witching" time... the outdoors seem to work miracles for his fussiness and I will occasionally have a glass of wine too :).
He loves to stare at the trees and listen to the birds and he loves grass!

18th week!

The weather this week in Houston has been absolutely beautiful! Owen and I started music class at the Motherhood Center and Story Time at the West University Library! Jeremy joined us for music class on Monday- it was so cute, he was the only dad there- I have a feeling that next Monday we are going to see some of the other dads there... Jeremy was the only one brave enough to come and Owen loved having him there. Owen smiled the entire time.
Owen and I have been on a few morning jogs and the cool weather has been wonderful!!! This evening we took Tate and walked to Kraftsmen Bakery to pick up our fresh bread... there was no way I could drive there, its too beautiful outside!

Owen is growing up so fast. He can control his arms pretty well and is doing a great job working his fingers... he now grabs the bottle, puts it in his mouth and holds it- it is amazing. When he showed interest in wanting to hold it and put it in his mouth I definitely gave it to him... I would love for him to hold that bottle!

We go to the doctor tomorrow for his 4 month appointment.... he will also get some shots ( boo )... So, I have a feeling we will have a movie day tomorrow and I am going to just hold him all day an watch TV- I am anticipating some fussiness.

I am really enjoying the days that I get to spend with O... I cant wait until we can walk over to the zoo or Hermann Park and ride the train or even walk to the Childrens Museum on beautiful days like we have this week... but I am definitely enjoying my baby boy right now and everything I get to do with him, he will be crawling and walking soon and then I am going to have to really be on my toes.

Its hard to believe that this week last year we were informing our friends and family that little Owen was on his way...

Below are a few pictures of our little boy... growing up so fast!

Oh me, Oh my, Anita Mae came by!

Today the Thrashes came over to visit and brought their precious daughter, Anita! Anita was born a few days after Owen.... The Thrashes are some of our best friends- we cant wait to watch these two grow up together! Blair and I are already planning our future Santa Fe trips with the two of them!
Here is an old picture of Blair and me at about 34 weeks pregnant:

Here are a few pictures of the two 'lil munchkins today...

Anita says, "hook 'em"

College football day

Owen has been hanging out with the guys today... doing what most guys do during a Saturday afternoon in September...

17 weeks old... too young for coffee?

Owen is 17 weeks old this weekend.... and he is taking interest in everything I put in my mouth- including this very bright and fun green coffee mug. . . .

Owen is reaching for things now that he realizes he can actually work those long arms and big hands... pretty soon he is going to be grabbing and throwing things- it is amazing how fast these little ones grow.

After breakfast and our morning nap we went for a run... well, mom went for a run and Owen went down for part 2 of his morning nap. I am trying to get back into my running routine and it has been very difficult with our extremely hot weather.... I am looking forward to the temperature dropping because once that happens I am hoping my pant size will drop with it... Here is a close up of Owen this morning in the jogging stroller.
