Next thing I know its April 30th and Owen is 11 months old today! I can't emphasize enough how fast time flies when you have a child... It seems as though the days fly by even though Owen is sleeping for 17-18 hours a day! He is still sleeping 12-13 hours at night and takes 2, 1.5-3 hour naps a day. This little boy is a sleeping machine! He can tell you the sounds a cow, pig and monkey say... we can definitely tell that he has a ton to say, if only he could say it! The last few days he has been standing on his own for a second, and then a couple seconds and yesterday he made a couple small attempts to go from one place to another without assistance... His favorite food right now is chicken salad and he loves blackberries and broccoli!
Here are a few pics of this little toddler on the go... he is going to be walking any day now...

A few more good ones!
Point Lobos
Today we took Owen to Point Lobos, a national reserve that is a few minutes down Hwy 1 from Carmel. My pictures do not do this park or the views justice... it is absolutely breathtaking. We saw some seals kissing and playing in the water right in front of us and watched as seals sunned on the beach and we watched as one mamma seal teach her pup how to maneuver in the waves...
Family picture:
Seals sunning and if you look real close you can see the momma seal and her pup in the shallow waves:
Our entertainment for the afternoon... this seal was intent on splashing the water and performing for us- pretty cute!
I wish I could capture nature at her best here and share with you the powerful sounds of the waves thrashing on the rocks and show how strong the water and current was with the water dropping and rising viciously along the rocks. Its beautiful.
(the beach(es) you can see in the background is Carmel Beach and you can see Pebble in the distance to your left).

Wet sand on your feet...
Jeremy played golf at Pebble this afternoon so Owen, Tate and I headed to the local candy shop up the road to buy (some more) incredible homemade toffee and then went to the beach... I am afraid I might be gaining weight each day with all the wine, cheese and sweets I am consuming.... but with all the walking up and down hills and in the sand dunes (with my 25 lbs son on my hip) and running in the sand with Tate, I am hoping it is balancing itself out...

Paradise, Repeat.
I mean... what can I say in this post that is really much different than my previous ones... we are so lucky to be living in an amazing place these couple of weeks and each and every day is absolutely amazing... we are really enjoying this vacation and so is Tate- he might not want to come home.
We went to Big Sur today and had lunch at Nepenthe (INCREDIBLE burger) but I forgot my iPhone AND my camera SD card.... it was a bit foggy so I we will need to go back anyways to check out the view...
Here are a few pics from today ... captured moments of life in the sand, while waves crash on the beach as you sip your slightly chilled glass of pinot that you purchased from a local vineyard... I'll say it again, I LOVE Carmel.

Monterey Bay Aquarium - Holy Mackerel!
Yesterday we took Owen to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and walked down Canary Row- we had so much fun watching the cute otters play and Owen was mesmerized by the jellyfish and the mackerel. If you are ever in this area- definitely check out this aquarium- it was awesome. I cant wait to bring Owen back when he really gets it - I imagine we will hear a lot of "what dis?/ what dat?"
Strolling on the beach:
Christine and Greg are visiting for a few days- last night we went over to Spanish Bay and had cocktails while watching the sunset on the ocean's horizon... and grabbed dinner at Mundaka afterwards.
Jeremy took Owen to breakfast this morning with Greg, while I got to wake up later than usual and to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach.... AND, I got to enjoy my coffee- what an amazing husband I have!
