"They say to..."

I haven't blogged since last Tuesday- things seem to stay very busy around the house. I feel like I feed Owen all day long and Im washing bottles and equipment after that.

I am starting to get into the swing of a routine and getting comfortable with everything and I am definitely noticing that I am getting a little more time here and there for things- so I hope to be posting many more pictures and blogs this week.

But I wanted to comment on something ...
I had a friend email me the other day who just found out that she was pregnant and she was asking me a lot of questions about my pregnancy and asked if I could give her any advice on some things... and I actually do have a bit of advice if you are an expecting mother and looking for some advice :)...
There is no ONE way to do something right when you have a baby- "they"(in reference to all the friends, books, family members and strangers that you know who will offer advice upon you.) often say that there is one way to do something or there is only one baby product that will work for whatever it is you are needing it for. In fact, there are many right ways to do one thing. Probably the only thing that I would say has only one solution would be REFLUX and that one solution might be Prevacid, according to all my friends who have used it :) But if we aren't talking about a medical issue here, just trust your instincts and you will know what is right... and don't get caught up when you have conflicting advice given to you... just do what feels right to you and what works for your baby... or your body, if you are pregnant.

The one thing that I believe helped me throughout my pregnancy, delivery and after my delivery was the fact that I walked almost 6 days a week for an average of 3 miles each walk. When I was tired, I walked and it gave me a burst of energy... Walking gave me the strength when I needed it most during my pregnancy and delivery- so, if you have the time, I would suggest walking. But of course, there are other methods of exercise- like I said, there is no one way to do something right :)

Back on track. . .

We are back on track today. Owen is doing great and back to his normal chill mood- this pictures says it all:

Today we had some more tummy time and Owen rolled onto his back?! I was quite shocked to watch him do it... twice! I didnt think that babies start that for another few weeks at least!? I definitely have to keep two eyes on this little strong baby no matter what!

We read a couple books and watched it rain outside today- Owen was fascinated by the rain and the trees and all the leaves falling to the ground.
Owen is changing every day- today he smiled at least 5 or 6 times- not necessarily at anything in particular- but its amazing to watch him smile! I can't wait until he starts smiling at me and laughing... and you know that I will flood my blog with pictures of his adorable smile! I think I have enough pictures of sleeping Owen :)

Sleeping Tiger

Poor Owen had a tough day today... he had a little bit of an 'upset stomach' today and was fussy off and on this morning. The child is human! :)

He is sleeping now.... here is a snapshot that I just took of my 'gassy' angel! Haha!

3 weeks! xoxo

You are 3 weeks old today and I can't believe its been 3 weeks since I was sitting in that hospital room anxiously awaiting your arrival! Actually, at this very hour is when Dr. Ivey walked in our room and started the party- and about 25 minutes later, you were in my arms! I love you, Owen!

Fathers Day Weekend!

Happy Father's Day, Jeremy!!!

(Owen is 3 weeks old today!)

This weekend was an eventful one for Owen- we got to see the grandfathers for Fathers Day {weekend}!!

Friday afternoon, my dad, Grandy, came to visit Owen from Uvalde. He stayed Friday night with us. Dad and I had a blast- Owen has him wrapped so tight around his finger- its precious!!

Grandy and I had so much fun with Owen. It is absolutely precious to watch your father hold your son and have conversations with him while they sit in the living room together and he has no idea that you are listening :)

Grandy helped me give Owen his first bath (non-sponge bath, since his cord fell off- I wanted to note that before you read 'first bath' and immediately labeled me as a bad mother thinking I waited 3 weeks to bathe my son! ha) By the time we bathed him and fed him, it was time for bed... There isn't much else you can do with a 3 week other than feed him, change his diaper, and bath him :) I can't wait until Owen is old enough to start walking and then we can take him to the ranch and he can ride around the ranch with Grandy and visit our swimming hole on the ranch (Frio River) and ride around with Grandy in his truck.

Saturday morning my dad had to head back to San Antonio and Owen and I drove to Lake Conroe to meet dad and the rest of the family for the afternoon... this was our first major outing and it went great, to no surprise;-). Owen slept the entire drive to Conroe and continued to sleep the entire time we were there... this boy can sleep!!

We met Jeremy's dads side of the family, most of whom were visiting Charleston, SC. Granny, Jeremy's grandmother, had a chance to meet her great grandson as well!

Today is Jeremy's first fathers day!! What a lucky boy Owen is to have such a loving and involved father (and what a lucky wife I am to have such a wonderful husband)! When Jeremy is at home you will find him either holding Owen, changing his diaper (he IS Diaper Dad!), feeding him or just hanging out watching him while he sits in his swing or in his moses basket. It is absolutely amazing to watch him with him... he is a great father!

Jeremy played golf with his dad and brothers this morning and then the three of us have been hanging out at home all afternoon lounging and watching the US Open and futbol matches! I love lounging at home with Jeremy and Owen... eating all day like we do on Thanksgiving day (ha!) - I love olives, cured meats, cheeses, hummus, pita chips etc...

Here are some pictures from the weekend!!

Handsome Owen

Good morning- its Thursday! One more day until the weekend! This weekend is a big one for Owen. Grandy is bringing Owen's great grandmother, Nana to visit tomorrow!! And then on Saturday- we are heading to Colbys lake house for Saturday/ Saturday night to just hang out and relax!

I cant believe how much Owen changes each and every day! I think today he looks just like Jeremy and I have not been able to really tell who he looks like until today. I thought he looked a lot like his handsome uncle, Chance at first ... but I think he is starting to look like his good looking dad, now!!

Owen is now taking down 4.5oz and slept last night from 7:30pm until 3am! Yeah!

World Cup and Week 3!

World Cup Time!

Our mornings have been starting around 6:30am with Dunkin' Donuts coffee(of course, my favorite), World Cup soccer matches, dad holding sleepy Owen on the couch... which has been a lot of fun!

Week 3 is going fantastic- Owen continues to sleep anywhere from 6-8 hours a night and is eating like a champ. He loves sitting in his swing and staring out the window at everything- I can see his brain just soaking up everything: the birds, rain on the window, blue sky, green trees, brown wood ceiling, the squirrels and the sunlight shining through the leaves in the trees... now whether he can actually see all that, I am not quite sure about that one, but I do know that he is sure trying to focus on it all- his eyes go cross-eyed from time to time and its precious!!!

I have no doubt that this little guy is going to continue to amaze us... I definitely see an "old soul" side to Owen. He is such a peaceful and self-soothing child and seems so much more alert than I had ever imagined.

I wonder what he is going to be, what sports he will play, or what clubs he will join or start.... where will he want to travel and what books will he love to read?

I started reading to him this week and he loves Goodnight Moon- I think its the bright red pages and black and white pages that get his attention. "They" say that babies at Owen's age are intrigued by red and black colors. He just sits there and stares at the book as I read it. He is going to be an avid reader just like his father!!!

Owens umbilical cord fell of a couple days ago, so we are starting 'tummy time'. He has been able to hold his head since he was a couple days old with it bobbing but he can now hold it for 4-5 seconds without bobbing- he is a strong little one. I definitely must keep a hand on the little guy at all times or he is going to roll!

Aunt Molly and cousin Henry are in town for about a month visiting. They flew in this morning. I have attached a few pictures of them with Papi.

Here are a few close-ups of Owen... I am obsessed with his little cheeks and nose. . . not to mention his light blue eyes:

2 weeks!

Today Owen had his 2 week check up with Dr. Finnila. He weighs 8lbs, 15oz and is 21.5 inches long!! He is a growing baby boy! Doc says he is 50% percentile in weight and head circumference and 60% percentile in height.

Its hard to believe that 2 1/2 weeks ago this was Owen... (me @ 39 wks and 5 days pregnant)

And now, here he is:

Caught up!

{Tate is keeping an eye on the little guy while I get dressed}

{This pose cracks me up- Owen sleeps like this all of the time and its just precious!}

I am finally caught up on my pictures and posts! I could post a million photos of Owen. Every day he changes and I don't want to miss it! It seems like I get the exact same shots of him right now, just in different clothes, with and without a pacifier because he has been sleeping so much! Our son is a sleeper- I am going to brag here and just say that he was sleeping 7 hours at night starting when he was 7 days old. I don't know what I did to deserve this- but I will take it!
Owen is starting to wake up during the day a lot more and he sleeps between his 11am and 3pm feeding most of the time- so I pulled out the Bjorn and I have been 'wearing' my son during the day so that I can get stuff done! I can't wait until he can hold his head up so that I can turn him around so that he doesn't have to face me and he can see what is going on! Right now the Bjorn puts him to sleep- it usually takes about 30 seconds in it and he is out like a light until I take him out.
We have our 2 week check up on Monday with Dr. Finnila and I am so curious to find out how much he weighs. Owen was only 5 days old when we had our first doctor appointment about a week and a half ago- he weighed 8lbs, 1oz. He has definitely been gaining weight and growing... he wears 3 month clothes in some brands and is taking 4oz of milk now!

Jeremy and I are having so much fun with Owen- I can't wait until we can play in the pool, go to the zoo and get out a little more! However, I am really enjoying Owen just the way he is right now and our time at home. The mornings are my favorite.

Bubble time!

I can NOT wait until Owen's chord falls off so that I can submerge his body in water because right now, my son hates sponge baths! He clears his lungs when he screams during them- and it makes me cringe. I hate to hear him cry!!

Boysh came over one evening this past week and wanted to give Owen a bath... he did a great job- here are a few pictures from it!- Owen didn't cry! Boysh- you are hired! :)

The Aunties!

I am so lucky to have such amazing friends! This past week Emily flew into town from Ohio and her, Christie and Cortney came over to visit Mr. Owen. Owen is a very lucky young man, he has several lady friends looking out after him :)
Owen is one of the first babies in our group of girlfriends- so I imagine that he will be spoiled beyond belief! The three of us all got puppies around the exact same time... but it looks like I am the only one who will have a baby for the time being :) These girls don't know it yet, but they will be babysitting here pretty soon - ha!

Girls- thank you for being such amazing friends and for your love and support- xoxo!
