9 weeks old!

Owen is 9 weeks old! So hard to believe that, that much time has flown by!

Owen is smiling ALOT and cooing and "aghoo'ing" constantly. Today I played the " Im gonna get you" game with my hands and he would smile before Id touch him- he totally gets the game and hears everything we say, its just a matter of time before he starts reacting to everything. I feel like each day we get something new from him. Yesterday morning he started a little giggle with his smiles and he is supporting and holding his head so well.
It really is true what 'they' say- you never can comprehend how much you will love your child, until you have one. Owen brightens up everything in my life and he is a little miracle. We are so lucky and blessed to have him in our lives.

This past week Owen has been getting through the nights with just a pacifier- no bottle. He eats 6.5oz every four hours during the day. He is waking up at night for his pacifier now ( and probably wants some mommy visiting time too)- but we are trying to stick to our guns and simply give him his pacifier once he makes a noise and then leave the room. He is doing great- sleeping through the night with nothing more than some small demands for his pacifier, and then he goes back to sleep.... The two of us on the other hand, are not getting as much sleep. Right now Jeremy and I are alternating the nights up with him. I sure hope he starts sleeping through the night soon! :)
I am going to guess and say that based on his last doctor appointment that he probably weighs somewhere in between 12 -14 lbs ... He is wearing 3-6 month and 6 months clothes pretty much across the board with different brands and he is continuing to grow. His toes look like tiny baby fingers and his hands aren't far from the ability to grip a basketball (ha!).
He is about to outgrow the ability to lay down on my lap- his legs and feet now have to stick up in the air so that his butt can slide all the way down so that his head fits on my lap... he is a long lean little machine, this little one, but one thing is for sure- he may outgrow the ability to have his whole body lay down on my lap, but he will never outgrow the ability to lay his little head in my lap or sit in it while I hold him!

I think tomorrow (Owens 9 week bday) we are going to see how he likes our swimming pool... I think its warm enough with all of our summer heat!
Here are a couple pics I took with my iphone today of our beautiful and healthy little boy...

Owen's First Vacation {Nantucket 2010}

Owen has now flown on 4 planes and I would say the little boy is a pro. He never once made a peep, not one cry or whimper on any of the planes ( and 2 of those were 4 hours long!). He is so easy going and so fun- I enjoyed holding him for 4 hours talking to him, reading with him, smiling and sleeping!
What an amazing vacation with Jeremys family and the Newtowns! We had such a great time! We spent 8 days in Nantucket and had a blast. We ate clam chowder every night, rode bicycles to Siasconset and had lunch at The Summer House. We went to the Miacomet beach and Jetties Beach. We cooked out, enjoyed our views from the widows walk, drank lots of coffee in the mornings together, made banana pancakes with peanut butter, ate at Even Keel at least three times, went to the Rope Walk and bought Owen a couple Nantucket apparel items to match his daddys!

Here are only a FEW of the pictures from the weekend. I will be posting more as I gather them from others who were on the trip... so here is only the first of a few Nantucket posts.

Owen's Newborn Session... a few of my FAVORITES!

Oh my goodness... I have so many favorite photos of Owen, it is so hard for me to chose out of them all! Well, here are just a FEW of my favorites from Owen's newborn session with Jennifer (he was 7 days old during this). I have finally been addressing all the envelopes and I have started mailing his announcements out over the last 2 days... so yours is coming! Since I cant include all of these images on his announcement to show off my little man, I wanted to post them on here. And yes, he is as sweet, loveable, cuddly and perfect as he appears in his photos. Jeremy and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful little boy. He makes each and every day so special and bright... even when I am running on much less sleep than I am used to! I love you Owen, you came into our lives and you have made every day amazing. We are so lucky to have you- we love you!

Jennifer Cusimano ("aka the baby whispering photographer" as Jeremy likes to call her, did such a great job! She is a newborn savant- if you are expecting a baby or know someone that is- reach out to her... you wont regret it! www.jennifercusimano.com)

We are back!

We got back from Nantucket last night. We had a wonderful trip and Owen was such a good baby! He has now flown on 4 airplanes! I am definitely saving his boarding pass for the baby book!
I will be posting pictures tonight, after he goes to bed- so check back tomorrow morning for pics from the week!
Boysh(my father-in-law) took a lot of pictures, so as soon as I get his pictures and Debbie's pictures, Ill post those as well.
We had such a great time eating clam chowder, riding bikes, drinking blueberry lemonades and cape cods, hanging out on the beach and just enjoying spending time together! I cant wait for our next trip!
I think my favorites were the people watching, riding bikes to Sconset and having lunch at The Summer House and drinking coffee in the living room in the mornings with everyone.
Henry and Nellie definitely kept everyone on their toes as well (Henry Neff, my nephew, and Nellie)
Today I am going to be doing a lot of catching up, laundry and unpacking!

"Nantucket was a whaling town..."

We are heading to Nantucket tomorrow morning for a week- so I am getting things packed and ready. I know I am going to forget something but I pray it is not my breastpump- because I might have to fly all the way back to Houston just to get it- that is the most important item on this trip- I am placing it by the front door.... guys reading this blog, don't visualize and don't try and understand- you cant. If you arent familiar with this item.. dont worry, one day you will be very familiar.
Straw hat purchased, check. Nautical pieces for Owen packed- check. Tennis shoes and workout clothes, check. Sunscreen, check.... I will be posting pictures from our trip, next week.
Jeremy gave me a new zoom lense for my camera, so I am very very exited to use it!!

Here are a couple pictures from Nantucket when Jeremy and I went a couple years ago- who knew we would be returning with a 7 week old!
xoxo(thank goodness my hair grew back)

My birthday!

26 years ago- July 14, 1984:

Yesterday was my birthday- I love my birthday- who doesnt?! Owen and I had a great day together- this was by far, my favorite birthday:)!I think every year it gets better.

I spent the day with Owen and he was a doll- the perfect baby and I can say that because I am his mom. We had breakfast at Salento with my friend Sarah and then lunch at Benjy's with Rachel and Leslie and then we shopped around for our trip to Nantucket. I found the cutest pair of seersucker pants for Owen- perfect! I have a hard time buying anything for myself these days because things just dont fit the same and it can get a little discouraging... just imagine bathing suit shopping 24/7. Its kind of like that- ha! But I keep telling myself time and patience, Linsay... time and patience.

Last night I met a few of my girlfriends for dinner at Max's Wine Dive- we had a great time and I really enjoyed myself! It was a perfect night of great friends, great wine and great/unhealthy delicious food!

I am so lucky to have all of you girls in my life- you are all such wonderful friends to me- thank you all for making my birthday and every other day amazing!

Jeremy had to fly out of town for work yesterday so we are celebrating my birthday tonight while the grandparents keep Owen over night! :) So I get a 2 day birthday celebration- now that is what I am talking about! So... today I am meeting Papi and Kiss for lunch and handing Owen off to them for the night. Owen spent Sunday night with them and that was the first time I had been away from him over night- I was surprised with how well I handled it- I know he is in great hands with his grandparents who just love and love on him- so I am happy that he has the opportunity to spend this special time with them!

Thank you to all my friends for the sweet text messages, emails and phone calls!

Here are a few pictures from last night- it felt good to get out of my sweatpants- however, it is sometimes discouraging to put on anything other than sweatpants- my sweatpants always fit just right no matter what- ha!

6 week check up!

Owen had his 6 week check up yesterday and he got a few shots. We are flying to Nantucket this Sunday for a week, so we had to get this taken care of before we jetted across the country! Owen was such a big boy and didn't really cry at all- I on the other hand got teary eyes and stayed teary eyed until I got in the car- I am the baby!
Owen weighed in at 11 pounds and 23 inches long! He is apparently 50th percentile in weight and head size and 75th percentile in height! Jeremy was pretty excited about the height part! :)

Saturday Shenanigans

This past weekend our very close friend Debbie came to stay with us! You might recognize Debbie if you were at our wedding- Debbie was our celebrant (she married us!).

Friday night I went to Carey Ford's surpise birthday party. Carey is one of Owen's godfathers. Happy Birthday Carey- surprise! :)

Sarah and me:

Saturday afternoon, Owen and I had a very busy day! We had breakfast at Black Walnut cafe with Deb:...

... and then went to Jack Weatherly's 1st birthday party!....

.. and then we had a surprise visit by my oldest oldest oldest friend, Merrill, who stopped by the house to meet Owen. Merrill and I grew up together in Uvalde... I can still remember the days that Merrill and I would dress exactly identical all the way down to our rubber band color. We were attached to each other for probably at least 8 or 9 years! :):
