Up!

I know.. I know.. I better get ready because this little boy is about to take off... he is cruising, and crawling up our stairs... pretty soon he is going to be running up and down the stairs!

So, this month is kind of funny... Owen doesnt technically have a 9 month birthday celebration because there is not a 30th of March.... so, I will celebrate it today :)

9 month checkup

We went to see Owen's doctor for his 9 month check up:

Owen weighs 22.5 lbs and is 29.5 inches long. He is 85% in weight, 90% in height and 90% in head size... proportional little munchkin :)

He was so good for his check up... its amazing to think about him turning 9 months in less than a week... I feel like I sound really old when I say.. " He is growing up so fast!"

We are going to check out the children's museum and zoo today and tomorrow... we will update with pictures this weekend!

Just hanging out...

Not much new going on this week... Ive been trying to play catch up with a few things since last week and Jeremy and I are working on getting our St. Pattys Day GWTF shirt out asap...
I am also in the process of buying furniture for our house which is proving to be more difficult than I imagined. I dont have a knack for this type of thing so I have a couple people helping me... we are going to actually use our dining room soon and we are turning our upstairs deck into a paradise... I am looking forward to having friends over to hang out and have dinner up there on a beautiful spring evening on the new table and couches, new landscaping and a big huge umbrella... I will take some before and after pics... Its a mess up there right now- its crazy what the Houston sun and weather will do to mediocre quality furniture.
My new obsession is the Royal Botania website...

Roatan Island, Honduras

Jeremy and I had the amazing opportunity to spend a few days in Honduras and we had an amazing time! We went without Owen this trip, but this is a kids paradise.

Here are a few pictures of the beach and Pristine Bay- a resort being built down there that is absolutely amazing. Pristine Bay looks more like ancient ruins of a city than a city being built today... just looks funny without wooden frames!

The water is crystal clear and has a turquoise blue tint to it... you can scuba dive within feet of the beach since the reef runs along the edge of the island. The local breakfast is eggs over medium, rice, beans, avocado with a side of tortillas- 2 please! The beer is Barena and the rum is Zacapa. Try a glass of Zacapa if you ever get a chance... Jeremy says its like honey. I can drink it straight, and I don't drink anything on the rocks other than a margarita- it really is that good.

And beware... you never know when a European couple might just sit down next to you on the beach and change out of their regular clothes into bathing suits... yes, I do mean, right in front of you.

This is our amazing tour guide, who is a Honduran local, who drove us all over the island and became a good friend of ours, Jim Bob Burdett. JB has lived in Honduras for the last 8 years and I highly doubt there is a single person on the island that he doesn't know.

Heading back to Texas...

We are heading home today and I am sad to leave but so excited to see Owen.... We had a wonderful time and we cant wait to come back with Owen... its a kids paradise.
We have been checking out Pristine Bay here in Roatan, a resort/villa community being built and it is amazing.. you can snorkle right off the beach- the reef is about 50 feet out... its amazing.

We are heading to Roatan Island in Honduras tomorrow and I can't wait to get there! I used to start packing for these kind of trips weeks in advance... but it wasn't until today that I had time today to really think about my trip and start thinking about what I am going to take! I have been so busy with Owen I haven't had much time to pack.... I really want a new bathing suit, but I guess I am going to have to make do! :) I haven't built up enough courage to endure those harsh halogen lights in dressing rooms. I don't think I am ready for that just yet..

I am looking forward to waking up after 7am, getting some great Vitamin D (but not too much), and relaxing. Jeremy is really looking forward to playing some golf at the Black Pearl. I would normally play golf but the idea of being able to lounge all day by a beautiful beach with not one single responsibility on my mind other than whether I want a floater or not on my rum punch sounds so much more my kind of speed for this weekend!

My reading material will consist of Infinite Jest and this months InStyle.... I don't think my legs have really seen much sun since summer 2009- that is pretty scary.

I guess all I really need to pack is a bathing suit, flip flops, hat and a sundress...but of course I am going to pack MUCH more than just that :)

While its just hitting me that we get to spend a weekend in Honduras starting tomorrow... its also hitting me that I am not going to see Owen for that long, and that makes me start missing him already and I havent even left!

Downtown!

Owen and I headed downtown today to hang out with his friends Elliott and Sienna... and my friends Isabel and Natasha :). We all went and saw a music concert at Cullen Theater together that was led by the same music teacher we have been taking these little ones to since they were 4 months old... and then we grabbed lunch at Discovery GreenPark. The weather was absolutely beautiful today- we had a wonderful time...

I cant believe how fast these little ones are growing! Sienna is definitely the rockstar of the group- she is already walking and at only 8 months old and Elliott has the most beautiful eyes you could imagine. Owen has some good looking buddies:)

Busy weekend

I am completely and totally exhausted after our very busy and fun weekend.

I drank too much champagne, danced much more than usual and went to bed a lot later than our average Saturday night... it took a toll on me. Literally, last night I shut my car door on my finger as I got out... not very smart.

This am we had a really fun birthday/Valentines Day brunch at our friend Bill and Joe's house - 2nd year in a row, with our friend Christine... here are a few pictures from the brunch... Joe cooked an amazing brunch and we ate this delicious meal downstairs in the incredible wine cellar. Its Sunday afternoon and I am ready for bed time...

Wedding weekend!

This weekend a very special friend of ours is getting married! I love weddings... I really do. I love the music, dancing, open bars and I enjoy the ceremonies as well... :) As long as they arent TOO long!
.. I also really enjoy the champagne that usually accompanies most weddings! I also like getting dressed up for weddings- I guess i just like getting dressed for anything in general that doesn't involve jeans, sweats or t-shirt. Since I am in flip flops, jeans, sweatpants or tennis shoes most days... getting dressed up in heels and a dress is always fun for me. I am definitely a "girly girl" at heart- Ive always been.

Stuck indoors

its rainy and freezing in Houston today... so we are stuck inside.



We are going to Honduras next weekend and I can not wait to get there.. especially with it being 30 degrees and wet in Houston....

Super Bowl!

Where did everybody go, mommy?



We had a super bowl party last night and I can't remember who won but I do know that I won the 2nd quarter!!! Well, my super bowl square won the 2nd quarter and I got some $$$! I never win anything so that was so much fun! :)
We had Oh My Pocket Pies! Cater the event with delicious braised pork El Cubano pocket pies, Salisbury Steak pies, Chicken Pot Pies, and delicious burgers and fries!
